meet Catherine Mentior
Belgian Painting Artist, Catherine Mentior has long been an amateur landscape watercolorist on the sidelines of her career in Communication for international companies.
Since 2020, she has devoted herself fully to painting and this time makes us discover her abstract and impressionist universe in acrylic paint.
The current exhibition at the nhow Hotel is entitled “Gardens and Impressionist Reflections”.
Strongly influenced by the Impressionist Painters, she plays with bright colors and the sun crossing the foliage and creating changing reflections in the water.
In love with luminous colors, her painting is energetic, intuitive, and moving; we perceive both the light but also the wind through the foliage and the rustle of water in the lakes and rivers.
The waterfalls come alive, and their borders suggest abstract shapes where everyone can imagine his own character or story.
Painting represents for her a bubble of escape and creativity in a magical and multicolored imaginary universe. As you will have understood, this garden has no barriers and can be explored according to your desire and your imagination… Catherine invites you to get lost in its meanders and to enjoy the journey, which is more important than the final destination.
On a technical level, Catherine uses mixtures of fluid acrylic paint which she pours and then works freely on the canvas horizontally. She chose to no longer use brushes or realistic models to allow the paint great freedom to flow and mix in order to reveal its mysteries to us. Pieces of cardboard serve as a guide for the pouring of paint, the dynamism is brought by the touch of the finger or the dance of wooden sticks on the canvas.
Catherine Mentior permanently exhibits in hotels, restaurants, medical centers, shops and offices. She is also very active on social media.
